« La Croix L'Hebdo’, a new format printed, bound and sent out by the Riccobono Group.

Press release

Paris, 14 May 2024

Since April, the Bayard Group has changed the format of its weekly ‘La Croix L'Hebdo’ with a new technical formula of 64 inside pages and 4 cover pages in stitched spine instead of glued square spine for a format of 200 x 270 mm for 80,000 to 90,000 copies.

On the initiative of the Bayard Group, the printing (inside and cover), binding and mailing of this weekly from issue 228 (print run Tuesday 09 April 2024 and postal delivery Wednesday 10 April) have been entrusted to the Riccobono Group.

The Riccobono Group offers the Bayard Group a global industrial solution for printing, binding and mailing: its major advantage is that a single contact coordinates all the production of the title within the Riccobono entities.

The release of La Croix L'Hebdo required the involvement of 3 production centres. Newsprint's offset site in Lieusaint (77 Seine-et-Marne) produced the 64-page (2x32) inside sections in a 60g UPM Ultra Mat H 1.2 finish.

The Hélio Print offset and rotogravure site in Mary-sur-Marne (77 Seine-et-Marne) is responsible for printing the covers. It manages the 2 versions: the weekly (130g Condat Silk cover) and the Sunday supplement for the daily.

The Bayard Group has also entrusted the binding and routing activity to the Riccobono Group at the France Routage site in Bussy-Saint-Georges (77 Seine-et-Marne), which provides synergy and a high level of responsiveness for production.

The title is printed from 2pm on Tuesday for the covers and from 6pm on the same day for the inside pages. Subsequently, the binding (2 stations under the covers + inserts) and routing are carried out by France Routage, with deliveries made before 9am at Bayard and before 10am on Wednesday at France Messagerie.

The title is distributed by France Messagerie. Delivery of the ‘Supplément Dimanche’ versions (approx. 15,000 - 16,000 copies) is handled by Promodi, Proximy (Riccobono Group) and Géodis Lieusaint.

The Riccobono Group, a printer for five generations, is the French leader in newspaper printing, its traditional business, which accounts for 35% of its business. The Group is also a major player in rotogravure, printing magazines, catalogues and leaflets, which also accounts for 35% of its business. The Group's other core competencies are distribution and mailing (20%), and routing, binding and finishing (10%).

Today, the Riccobono Group employs more than 2,700 people and generates sales of almost €250 million.
